for about 3 months now, i have been all over trying to find a solution to this problem.

whenever i try to plug in my "any" USB device into "any" of the ports at "any" time, it gets recognized because i hear the notification of new hardware detected, and it attempts to install it, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt install it.
Anyways when it does install it, i go to my comp. , it shows up as removable media and whatever drive letter, when i try to click on it, it just gives me the following message: device not accesable, access is denied.

Now just by reading i should have access becasue im the only user of the destop, and i have administrative rights.

The message pops up for any removable device on any USB port in the PC.

I have already checked under device manager, uninstalled it +reinstalled it multiple times, it recognizes it but no acces is allowed. disabled it and enabled it still nothing.

next i went to even viewer and it gives me the following:

RSM could not load media in drive Drive 0 of library USB 2.0 USB Flash Drive USB device.

Just wondering if there are any other regular routines that i have missed to troubleshooting with the PC...

And if you have any tips or hints or possible solutions, ill take anything at this point, thanks a lot..

There may be file corruption at the root of this...

first I would run CHKDSK /F (/R) from a CLI window, followed by SFC /SCANNOW (have your XP CD at hand)...

the first checks the drive's file system integrity and the later the integrity of your system files...

hi,

It seems as when I go to my customers, and they have,
for security motivations, blocked, by a specific program
or by policy, the removable media.
Have you attached yor PC, in another network?
(in a campus, ... ?

which OS have you ? XP ?

Have you managed, for other reasons, policy in
ctrlPanel| Admin tools|local security policy|
Local Security settings|security options ?

If you have XP, take a look above path, and see if you see
something strange!

bye
