I have a 4 way USB hub running from one of the ports on my USB 2.0 PCI card, question is I've seen some USB hubs on the market that are specifically for USB 2.0, the one I have was made last year and doesn't say anything about USB 2.0 on the packet, will I have USB 2.0 speeds out of the hub or only out of the PCI card? In other words for USB 2.0 speeds on a hub do I need to specifically purchase a hub that says it's compliant with USB 2.0?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick.

This used to be easy to answer. Last December the USB standards board changed the definitions of USB because manufacturers were complaining that people would not purchase USB 1.1 products still in inventory.

So, currently:

Old USB 1.1 == New USB 2.0 Fast
Old USB 2.0 == New USB 2.0 High Speed

You still with me?

So the question is: Is your USB Board the old 1.1 relabelled now 2.0? The same question applies to your Hub. The only way to answer this is either through the manufacturer's web site (possible), or better yet, call them.

Yes, you need to make sure the hub itself is USB 2.0 compliant.
