I just bought a new Epson Printer CX6400, when I plugged it in to the PC and turn it on I get this message:

“This device can perform faster:
This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port”

What does that mean and how can I make my USB faster?

Your CX6400 sounds like it is USB2 and you are plugging it into a much slower USB1 port? or, you haven't got USB2 drivers installed.
Now for XP that means installing Service Park 1 or newer.
SP2 prefered, or, it might just mean your motherboard hasn't got the newer USB2 connections.
If the later, your only option (if you want full speed from USB2 devices) is to fit a PCI to USB2 addon card.
They are very cheap, under £10/$20, go for a 4 or even 5port model.

You might also check tour motherboard CD-Rom, if you have one. It may have a USB2 driver that you will need to install.
