US ZIP Mapping Logic

Hi,
Can anybody tell me some logic how we can handle zip mapping for USA.
Like on some web sites you have seen that if you enter your home address then it will display 10 nearest shopping centers.
We also want to do same thing in our project..
Any ideas/logic will be really appreciated..

I don't know about USA, but in the UK you can get an database importable postcode file, and from there its just simple database queries to get what you need.

Might be worth getting in touch with the Postal Service, or failing that look for an external site on the web that will let you use them. Dean Owen
