Hello All

Firstly I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year 2007. Thanks to all for the wonderful support provided to each and every one who had problems in their areas.

I had desktop and laptop and was using wireless networking for laptop. the desktop is fine and i had been to toronto and then to new jersey where i couldnt connect to my cousin's wireless networking and left it like that. I came back to toronto and tried to connect thru laptop but couldnt' connect. the signal strength says 100% but its still saying acquiring network address. I tried ipconfig/renew and ipconfig/release but both of them failed.

I even retried using add wireless network and even that failed to connect.

The laptop is lenovo and i am trying ibm vantage connections as well as windows based wireless networking but to no luck. please advise me on this. I tried new connections and used the key too but to no luck.

Your help will be truly appreciated.

thanks
Sean

click on start-run type in ipconfig /release [enter]
and then ipconfig /renew

do not be connected to the wire while you do this.

Your wireless NIC needs to release the IP's you picked up...

Thanks NoCalAdmin for the suggestion. I tried it on laptop but fails everytime. Should I do it on the desktop by removing the connections from wireless router and do it.

Please advise.
I also have another question. when i checked the ipconfig on the desktop, i had put the same parameters as in desktop on the laptop too. and restarted the wireless router. now the laptop is showing 100% signal but still not connecting to the internet.

thanks
sean

have you tried resetting the factory defaults on the router? resecure it after you get back into it....

Tom

Thanks Tom for the update. I tried resetting the router. I am still not able to go thru internet. Infact the signal is showing 100% and sometimes it goes in unsecured but no page found is displaced while typing the or any other site. I still didnt' try reloading the us robotics software again on desktop and redo the wireless setup for laptop again using new set of keys and id.

while using ibm vantage connections, it shows that the dhcp server error and ssid and the key should match with the wireless and inspite of these i retried the new settings for laptop but still signal is 100% but no internet.

Thank you all. Finally, I had pulled out the ids from text file and the passwords. and logged to laptop and used the id and passwords which i registered thru us robotics software during 1st installation. and am able to connect to internet.

thanks once again to all of you for the support.
