is there a class that contains mathods for pulling a url apart?

eg/ if i had the url ' i would be looking for somthing that could tell me the domain is 'website.com', the folder is ' the file is 'something.file', then file type is 'file'...

For further info, a URI is a superset of URLs. A URI allows you to also specify addresses such as file:///c:/ as well as your typical Web, FTP, ms-help, etc. protocols.

(note use of forward-slashes)
