Ok, so here is my situation.

I have been asked by my Marketing Department to set up a specific scenario for access to a site. Originally this was the scenario

We had a site with sub-directory for one of our product lines. We then purchased a domain name for the product line, and wanted it to point to that directory. I managed this by setting up a rewrite rule to catch the new domain (lets call it and then redirect it to the mydomain.com sub-directory. All was well with the world (for the most part).

The problem is that, when I do that the URL changes to That wasn't a huge concern until we wanted to setup AdWords for the product line. We wanted the display URL to be and the destination URL to be Obviously this didn't work because it's not allowed by Google.

If I remove the original Rewrite Rule, I can get to Which would be ideal. The problem is that then going to just goes straight to the homepage instead of the sub-directory. However if I set up my original rule, and point it to it ends up in a redirect loop. So I am trying to figure out how to achieve this. Here are the scenarios to summarize:

The site address is which should land on the home page.
should point to should just land on that directory's home page.

Hopefully that was clear enough. Can anyone help me? Thanks.
