I'm not sure if this is the proper way to do this but what I do is use the fact that if you point to a directory and it contains an "index.html" that will get loaded by default.
So I make an index.html which just contains or refreshes to the php that I want.

That's one idea anyway.

Your server has a list of files that are read as "index" files in the folder. If you do not administer the server, you could try with index.php, that might work. If you do administer the server, just add the desired file to the list. The actual how-to falls out of the scope of this forum and should be asked in the respective forum for whatever server you're using.
