Hi Folks
I need help please - close to wits-end!
I have free web-space with my ISP and my web-pages are held there, but my domain name is held elsewhere and that site uses URL masking so that visitors see the 'cleaner' domain name, not the awkward URL for my ISP's user area
The latest version of my web page has started to show a horizontal scroll
bar, which it didn't previously do - this bar only moves about 8mm right so the problem, whatever it is, must, presumably, be quite small - I use an 800x600 setting - I asked the 'masking site' for their comments and they said:
"URL masking uses a 100% frame with your chosen site as the content for the frame. Provided your content remains inside this frame then the correct URL will be displayed in the browser. If you use tags, such as target=top for hyperlinks in your HTML code, then you may jump outside the frame and the host URL will be displayed in the browser.
Also this may be affecting dimensions of your site and adding scrollbars. You will need to edit code as required to prevent this occurring. This is outside our scope of support. You have to bear this in mind whilst designing your site content."
I've done everything I can think of to ensure my web-page content is smaller than the masking Frame, but still get the problem - Has anyone else come across this problem, caused by URL masking, or has anyone any ideas how I can track down what's happening?
