Hi everyone,
I'm dying here! I have a client's Partner ACS Rel 4.0 with a new 4-port VoiceGate Wizard VM. Up until yesterday, it was running beautifully!!!! A maintenance guy bumped the Partner Cab, but everything was checked and everyting works, except the Automated attendant only answers sometimes incomming calls, very randomly, sometimes not for 10 tries!! All 4 port of the VM work fine. I mapped them, onto buttons on a set, and watched them as I called in. I called on a line, got the AA, it consumed 1 VM port, put it on hold, took another line, and it rang and rang, no AA, so I put it on hold and took an intercom and dialed 777 and the VM Immediately answered, taking another port!!! I have watched the VM on a terminal, and it does not even see the call comming to it when it rings and rings!!!! I thank the system is at fault, but I don't see where it's gone bad!!!

Arrgh! Any thoughts????

Thanks!

Hi Trevor,
Call each port separately. If the port does not answer, put a line splitter in the VM side and hook up your butt set (or an slp phone). Call the port and check for a ring, then answer if you can.
Your problem could be bad ports, locked up port (restart phone sys to try and fix), or a bad harness or cord. This will help you isolate the cause.

since the maintance guy's bumping the cabinet started the problem I would be looking at the physical connections

check all the connections, between the partner and the VM rather than programing issues

I would unplag the cables from the VM , hook a phone or butset to them and be sure you had connection going into the VM

Hey everyone, thanks for the answers;I did all of those things when I first the call, so I tried a couple of different things this morning when I returned. I noticed that it was very random, and I thought that was the key to it, so I started busying out the lines on the console, however, there was a dead line. I hung them all up, grabbed my butt set and clipped onto the demarc block. The line was back. OK, Just a hung line, I though (we have a bit of a CPC problem at times around here) So I started buysing out all of the lines again...dead line, this time a different one. So I change the processor, same problem. So I physically shorted most of the lines, and conferenced the remaining ones to some of my techs, and, behold!!!! The lines were randomly disconnecting... AT THE DEMARC!!!!!!!!

Yes, the card cage at the DLC was experiencing severe power supply issues, and the Loop cards were cutting out randomly!!!!

Lesson learned...sort of, kind of....If there is one...

Oh, I know: Expect the unexpected! Right??? Hmmm.

Thanks guys!

You know it! I just turned 25, I've spent enough years running down bad pairs in the plant, climbing poles, and pulling fiber to feel like it's time to retire; how sad is that!!!
