If you turn on the mapping of the local hard drives, and the user has rights to the share that you want to copy to, yes you can. It is as easy as copying in windows explorer(which you would run in the Metaframe session).
I'm not sure. This is the situation. I have a client who has 4 citrix servers. From home (it's far to go there) I can use citrix client to acces the network. What I wanted to do is to upload a program I wrote to one of the citrix server and execute it.
But I couldn't find a way to do this. Does what you say apply to this?
You can "upload" the file to a drive on the server through Explorer (although FTP would be quicker over a remote connection).
Quick checklist;
1. Is the application you've written Terminal Server aware? If not, then it may not run under MetaFrame.
2. Are there any system policies in place which might stop the application from being executed or launched - or any Virus checkers?
3. Does the user you are logging in as have permission to run applications on that server?
With respect, if I was the Citrix administrator, I would be extremely wary of anyone attempting to run unknown/untested software on my servers, especially if that person has little Citrix/Terminal server knowledge.
I have already a software running there but there is something wrong with the database. To fix it I had to upload a program (which by the way is tested, but I understand your concern).
I had to do this in the weekend because 200 people had to work on monday but the administrator (the reel one) couldn't be contacted.
So I had to do this by myself not knowing how to upload.
Monday I've send the program and he executed itself. But I'm now curious how to upload it (could help in the future).
Enfin, It works now. Using Ftp is an answer to my question. Tx for your help.
Hi, I belive that Jontmke suggest, can solve your problem.
When you are logged as administrator, if not yet activated,
give ability to connession (hammer in Citrix Toolbar) or
Start\Programs\Citrix\MetaframeXP\Citrix Connection Conf.
ica-tcp
Client Setting
Connection
and check if drivers client are connected at logon.
( if not, check, logout, login,
copyfile from your hard-disk C: (or V to M: (or C
uncheck, logout, login, install program )
The FTP is a good solution but in your emergency case,
may have some trouble in remote (ftp not installed,...).
