I'm running a subscription website and one of my users is finding a problem logging in and moving within the secure areas.

She is running IE 6.0 and is several hundred miles away so I can't get on her computer to play with it.

The standard path is for the user to enter her member name and password. If they prove to match the ASP page assigns Session("Good") to 1 and are redirected to the first page of the secure site. The first page checks to see if Session("Good") equals anything other than 1. If it is equal to 1 then they are allowed to proceed. Otherwise, they are returned to the login page.

This ONE user (no one else has reported this problem and I can't replicate it) signs in and is allowed to go to the first page. The only way she could get there is if Session("Good") = 1. When she tries to go to the next page, she is immediately returned to the login page.

Somehow, the session variable only lasted one page.

I tried to talk through security settings with her on the phone tonight but nothing seemed to work. We even set the setting to Enable All Cookies but that didn't help either.

If you would like to try and see what happens to you, please go to my site: and sign into our test account. Enter the site and click Sign Into My Account. Use:
MemberName: TestUser
Password: TestUser

If you can click to Contacts or Ad Tracking in the Home Business Manager, the sessions are working for you.

Why can't I get this poor woman to be able to stay on my site??? She's been banging her head against the wall for a month. (very persistent, thank goodness)

Please help!!!!
Thank you.

in IE6 try doing the following:

Click Privacy Tab and Advanced

Check the "Override Cookie Handling..." checkbox
and the lower section should now NOT be greyed out.

On the "First Party Cookies" side check the Accept checkbox and the "Always allow session cookies" checkbox.

yeah if you are set not to accept cookies you can't use session variables.
