I'm working with a three tier project.Access for front end designing,VB coding,Sql server as database.
I wanna incorporate reports from crystal reports in access forms. Now i face a problem in configuring the server in runtime. How can i get the server ID from cliconfg.exeand send as a parameter and get the crystal reports connected to the database.Note:I've used ole control to get the crystal reports file connected to the acces forms

Are you launching the report from VB code? You would need to be to if you wanted to pass the database as a parameter. Ken Hamady

Thank you for your response.
I don't lauch the report using VB code.I have created a report or .rpt file which references the database in this network where i'm working.
I have used the crystal report control in the ACCESS form and set its path to the .rpt file.
The rpt file references the database here in the server.
Now I want to set the server path in the runtime of the application.I wanna get the server ip from the client configuration of any machine i install the application and send it as the server path parameter to the .rpt file.

If any other solution also its most welcome.expecting your help.

I am not familiar with this config, and I am afraid that you may not have access to override the database settings in this config.

How do you actually launch the report? Click on something?
When it launches does it open the report in the designer or does it actually run the report and generate output? Ken Hamady
