URGENT !! Root Password

I just got back from vacation today and I must of really relaxed because I can't remember root's password on my Sun box. Is there a way to log in and reset this password or do I need to reboot the server with the cd.

reboot from cd

boot cd -s
mount /dev/dsk/<disk part> /mnt

make the changes you need to make

umount /mnt
reboot

Hi there

I am also facing the same &quot;lost root password&quot; problem and found your tips in this forum. Unfortunately now i am unable to boot from cdrom using &quot;boot cdrom -s&quot; which is giving &quot;drive not ready&quot; error. Can anybody pl. tell some alternative for booting.

The cdrom drive is running fine while i login as a other user(rather than root)

are you on a Sparc or Intel box?

try running your boot command without the -s.
from the OK Prompt boot cdrom
