Hi all,

We've just upgraded Crystal from 6.0 to 8.0. Every report we open gives us a pop-up box saying:
"The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula".

Could it be a reference to a function is missing? If so, what do I do? Well, regardless... what do I do <grin>

Thanks!

Please cut and paste one of the formulas that is giving you this error. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Here's an example:

HFWDurNumHoursNormal ({CallLog.RecvdDate},{CallLog.RecvdTime},{Asgnmnt.DateResolv},{Asgnmnt.TimeResolv})

I think that the HGWDurNumHoursNormal is the offender... seems to me this is a function that's probably in a user library. So if that's the case... how do I know where to put the .dll once I find the right one?

That function is for use with HEAT call tracking software. Make sure the parameters haven't changed. You will find the needed DLL files in a HEAT subfolder. Sorry, I no longer use HEAT or I could tell you more, I know those functions are used by canned Heat/Crystral reports that come with HEAT.

You're correct... it's a report in a HEAT database.
When you say have the parameters changed, do you mean report parameters? HEAT hasn't changed at all, but Crystal was upgraded. I was thinking maybe we need another updated DLL?

I think something has happened to unregister or delete the .dll you have been using. Was this an OEM version of crystal that you upgraded to, or off the shelf? Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

It looks like the DLL has probably changed for this newer version of CR. Front Range, the makers of HEAT should have this DLL available from their web site for download. The only other thing could be if they have actually added another parameter to the function, I doubt that. Also, the output you showed earlier does not appear to have ANY errors with syntax, etc.

Good Luck.

In regards to John's suggestion, if the text "HGWDurNumHoursNormal" is blue, then crystal is recognizing this as a valid function and the parameters could well be the problem.

Maybe try the HEAT forum, if there is one.

I moved a whole list of DLLS over, got a list of which ones from a Front Range Newsletter. Thanks JohnTcolo for that suggestion, it lead me to the solution.
