Hi,

I have a word file with 3 pages (only text).
In my Access forms, on click of a button I need to open the entire content of the word file as report.

What are the ways to do this. I am then sending this report as fax (which is working fine).

But not able to open the content of word in my Access Report.
How to get the content of word in Report?

Use an Unbound Object Frame and in the dialog box, select, Microsoft Word Document
also, check the Create From File option and then type your path to the Word Doc in the next dialog box.

That should get you close.

Paul

Thanks Paul for your suggestion. I tried, but as i have mentioned in my earlier forum, I have 3 page word file.

So when I insert word file through Unbound object, its actually displaying only the first page, otherwise its very much like how i wanted.
Any soultion ?

I dont know if I missed, but I didnt come accross here with my search (though similar questions, but no replies). So I would really appreciate if someone could atleast point me to the forum similar to what i am searching.

Thanks in advance.

What do you need to do with the Report? Can you just open the Word doc directly from the form button and use that? Maybe a little more info will spark an idea.

Paul

Actually paul, I need to FAX this content (which is in word doc now) on clicking of a button.
When the user clicks the button, if there is a mail ID, it sends the word doc as email (this works fine). Otherwise (if no mail ID) check for FAX no, and send a FAX. I tried sending a sample report as FAX and it works fine(small function and DoCmd.OpenReport theReport, acViewNormal, , theWhereCondition). So was thinking to open up the word doc in report and then fax.

Hope i am clear enough. Paul is there any other way? I tried searching FAXING examples here too. But none had with doc attachments.

You might use the Shell command to open the document and just fax it instead of attaching it to a Report. Is there anything in the report that is important to the fax, or is it just a container for the document. You might be able to fax them both, just as separate items.

Paul

Really thanks for your patience and time.
Paul did u mean something like this?

Shell ("path to the word doc")

I havent used shell command, But if i am not worng when the above command gets executed doesnt it open up the word file?? So do I have to the maually fax??
Or is there any command to fax it programatically using Shell command?

Sorry, but I don't have any experience when it comes to faxing documents programatically. You say you are able to fax a report. Do you have to print it and then fax it manually? If that's the case, then it may be you would have to fax the Word doc manually as well. If you are just sending the Report to the printer, using acViewNormal and setting the Fax as your printer, then you might try combining the PrintOut method with the Shell method to send the Word document to your Printer/Fax.
Unfortunately, I haven't hooked up the printer/fax I got my wife for Christmas yet so I don't have anything to test it out on. In a week, I may know a whole lot more than I do now.

Paul

Thank you so much. Really very kind of you to take time and reply.
Let me try out with Shell and PrintOut method or calling some macro after Shell command. I need to complete it by today. In case if I dont find a solution, I might again bug u next week. :)

Thanks a lot for your time.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Once I get things set up here, I'll try it myself and post back any progress.
Good luck.
