Urgent Help Required on new BCM50 Install Please.

I’m hoping someone can point my in the right direction with a current problem we have on 2 Phone Systems.

Both install are at different locations and have nothing to do with each other.

The Equipment.

BCM 50
BCM 50 Expansion unit
GATM4 analog module

The Lines
3 Standard BT Analog Lines, all on one Number

The Problem.

Line 3 and 4 do not work.

The phone system is currently installed and all works, however line 3 on the Phone system just does not work.

BT has install a box conn on the wall and next to it 3 standard BT Sockets with pins 2 and 5 jumpered, we have changed the pins from 2 and 5 to 3 and 4, we understand these are the connections required for the BCM50.

Next to the BT Sockets we have installed 3 x RJ45 sockets which are hard wired into the BCM, we then use 3 x BT to RJ11 cable’s to connect each other.

The BT Lines fully, we have tested them ourselves bt simply adding a standard home phone to each line (we have to re-jumper pins 2 and 5 back instead of 3 and 4)

We have replicated the exact problem on another install.

Can any one here please let me know if you’ve ever had this sort of problem.

Thank you very much.

If you only have 3 lines, thats why 4 doesn't work.

Have you tried reversing PINS 3 and 4?

Check your punchdowns to the GATM module. Punch down lines 1 and 2, skip two pairs, punch down three and four. Lines three and four go on pairs 5 and 6 respectively.

I would check what Biv has said. You will have lines 1 and 2, 2 power fails and then lines 3 and 4, 2 power fails. If your first 2 lines are working then you know the leads you are making are working. I personally would have created a cable that took 2 and 5 to 3 and 4 on the RJ11 cable. That way if BT ever have to check the line they will not terminate the lines on 2 and 5 after they have finished.I would ask BT to provide the lines in an NTP.Then take a cable and terminate on RJ45 sockets in the cabinet or on the end of a patch panel.
