Hi,
I have deleted some 1 million records in a table. But I am not able to see any improvements in that particular tablespace. The number of free blocks are the same. The database is Oracle 7.3. Can someone help me out in this regard.
Thanks & regards,
DoubleH

Export the table and import it. This will get you back the free space you have created.

The process to reorg like this is;

Export the table
Drop the table
Create a new empty table with sensible values for INITIAL and NEXT
Import the table

When importing be sure to specify 'ignore errors due to object existence' - otherwisw it won't do it !

Delete does not change the High water mark in the table, so you would not see the improvements. export the table, truncate, import the table.
