Dear All,

I am new to HPOV, I have a few problem would like to ask ?

1) How can delete records in history tables ? I have try to "truncate table XXXX" in sqlplus, it return an error message like "deadlock detect while ......" and it stops.

2) Also, I have try to install OV agent on in windows 2000, however, it stops half-way through the installation process. An error message shows "my management server name cannot be found " even I had already entered into the C:\temp\nodeinfo.txt(pre-installation), any idea to the problem ?

Thank you.

Regards,

Hi L4G,

The command you need to delete history records is opchistdwn. Opchistdwn puts history messages into a file and then deletes them from the database based on command line criteria.

Try

man opchistdwn

for more details.

For your second query

-- check the spelling of the server name on your new managed node

-- check that the name you specified can be resolved from the new managed node -- ping the server from that node

-- check that the communication types for that managed node are the same on the node and on the server

And yes :) I know you checked all these things already, but they're what I always check and they usually fix things :) Mike

It's like this; even samurai have teddy bears, and even teddy bears get drunk.

You can also set this up easily by going to the nodebank
and going to ->Actions -> Utilities -> Database Maintenance and the center section History log, will allow you to set this up on a nightly/daily/weakly basis, etc.

hope this helps. There is also a command that escapes me at the moment to remove all messages associated with a node that you are removing from OVO, if I find it again I'll drop that in a replay.

I think the command prince keldar is reffering to is:-

opcdbidx –orphan

Once you have acknowledged all active messages, this will remove messages for the specified node from the history.
