Help Please. I am trying to create a multiple data Chart.

In this Chart I need to include data for years 2002 through 2009 with two lines, one showing the amount of employees in that year and the other the amount dollars spent in that year. Is this possible?

I am open to any / best program to accomplish this in, i.e., word, excel, powerpoint, crystal xi, anything?

Thank You,
Tina

Hi,

Excel

col a year
col b # emp
col c $ spent

hit the Chart Wizard and VOLA!

Thank you for the quick response.

I am still puzzled with the outcome, as I too thought it should be that easy. However, I am not getting the desired look & feel as I am needing.

Years at bottom
Line Graph in Red showing Emp # associated to the year
Line Graph in Blue showing Spent $ associated to the year

Thank you so much for your response, but still searching!

What results DID you get?

Under Chart - #1 - #16 with a yellow line straight accross bottom 0 line.
Right - 2000 - 20000 with a pink line going up from 2000 - 18000 across the chart
Blue line with in the chart straight across the 2000 line.

Appreciate your continued support and ideas.

Perhaps I should have asked, what look and feel do you want?

Have you used Excel charts before?

What chart application(s) have you used before that give you the look and feel desired?

Right click the chart.

Select Source Data

Select Series Tab

You probably have 3 series.

Delect the series that references your YEARS.

Select in the Category x lables textbox

Select your Year Range on the sheet (it will put the range reference in the textbox).

OK.

right-click each of the series - select Format.

Change the color as desired.

I'm not sure if you resolved this or not, but what you probably want to do is graph the data on two different axis (one on the left side and one on the right). Do this by doing the following:
1. Create the graph like normal (I would use a scatter graph), using your two data sets for Y and year for X
2. Double click on one of your data series in the graph.
3. Click on the Axis tab and select radio button ("Plot on second axis")

This will make the two data lines more or less lay on top of each other, one using the scale on the right of the axis the other on the left.

Hope this helps.
