Hi,
I am new to VFP and I was requested to make VFP program.I copied the whole folder (from network server)containing .dbc,.dct,.dbf,.dbf,.fpt files(database with tables)to my computer and at home finished the program.
After I copied program on network server
I have a problem running the program :when program start I have Open box asking to locate a table. After I point on a table on a network server I have Program error:File access denied.
How to have my program linked to database on network server?
Thanks for any help,
Lyn

Lyn,
Did you copy any of the tables you worked with back to the network? What kind of file server are you running with? (NT, Novell, Banyon, UNIX?) What are the security settings for the directory where you have these tables? (Any chance you have read-only access? This would have allowed you to copy them off, but not update them.)

Rick,

Did I copy any of the tables you worked with back to the network?
No,tables I worked on at home I used to check if the program run corectely.(My play data)
Tables on network server are live data that I need to link if I want this program to reflect the live data.
What kind of file server are you running with?
NT
The thing is that even if I try to open one of the tables on server I have same message. The only way to browse table is to copy it on another location and then either locate dbc file or free the table (delete a link)

Lyn,
In Explorer, right click on one of these .DBF files, choose Properties, click on the Security Tab, and then click on Permissions. What does it show you access rights to be (you may be listed individually, or as a member of some group depending on how your network security was setup)?

This really seems to be a "rights" issue.
