Urgent...Day light save time change--november

hai all...

i am an aix admin..but need to handle couple of linux boxes too..don't know much about how to handle next week time change settings..in aix we have /etc/environment variable is changed to

TZ=PST8PDT,M3.2.0,M11.1.0

so is there any timezone variable in linux boxes too or we have any fix for that..or some level of OS would be fine for linux like 5.3 is good for aix...,pls suggest me

I heard DST settting check command ..i tried below is the output ..
So this would be fine …is everything is good for nov 4…moreover I am concern about timezone name , mine is PST8PDT ..but below it showing UTC and PST5EDT what’s that????

Pls suggest me..

So instead of

zdump -v /etc/localtime PST5EDT | grep 2007

use

zdump -v /etc/localtime PST8PDT | grep 2007

An additional note: if you are using any major distribution, your vendor will have an updated timezone package available which fixes DST for all timezones affected, instead of just your own.
