I'm upsizing this access db to SQL and migrating the site code to work with it. do you know of a way to convert queries to stored procedures automatically?

Nope. I've never heard of any product that converts queries from Access to SQL Server. That would be nice to have though.

If you open your Access queries in SQL view you should be able to copy and paste the query.

It will require some clean up.

Also watch for Access UPDATE queries that are structured incorrectly for T-SQL (order of commands).
