Upsize replica from Access 2k to SQL

Hello,

I need to upsize a replicated back-end to SQL.

Do I need to keep the replication overhead of Access when I upgrade to SQL or can it be deleted (before or after upsizing)

We will be using the merge replication of SQL later.
