There are a few old threads but no solutions.
Has anyone successfully created a method of instigating the shutdown of a physical MCD via a UPS script?
I assume that I will need a serial cable from RS232 connected via a terminal program and then run a console command.
Is that the only way ? has anyone actually had this working .
If yes what terminal program was used ?

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Your best bet is the get the IP of the APC card, browse to this IP, once in on the left you will see the option for Reboot, Shutdown. You will need to know the login of course.

Always look out for the next guy because it may be you!

Its a CX controller , not a MXe Server , there is no APC card involved

The RTC shell command is "shutdown". So really all you need is a way for the UPS (or a device that receives the shutdown trigger from the UPS) to issue that command to the controller, either through the serial port or a Secure Telnet/puTTY RAW session to port 2002.

I'm already at that stage Lundah just feeling lazy and wondering if anyone anywhere had already been successful.
Looks like ill have to put the time in and do it myself
