Question...

We currently run 17910 Softpaq for CPM 1.81
on our R3000xr and R3000 UPS' on several of our racks.

Server X is connected to UPS1 via management software and serial cable.
Server Y is connected to UPS1 and ServerX via UPS agent.

IF server Y is also connected to UPS2 via redundant power supply, and if power failed on the UPS1, would the shut down sequence issued to Server X to server Y still initiate?

With that said, my question is:
Is it effective to use 2 UPS' for a power-supply redundant server?

And can the server agent software be smart enough to realize that only one of its power supplys is effectively down.

Sorry if this sounds a little cryptic. I'll post more information if required.

Thanks,

DPRello

To use 2 different UPSs for a redundant power supply server is the smart way of powering it.

About the shut-down sequence, it will depend on the software you are using and its configuration. I have not experience with APC software, but I think it should allow you to set-up this in the right way. If you are not sure you should read the manual and if there is nothing there try to fin support directly from APC.

Hope this help.
Regards,
Jose.-
