UPS Notifications

I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server (well, actually 35). They all have APC 1400 UPS's attached via a serial cable. They have been setup using Microsofts implementation of UPS s/w, via the Power options in control panel. My question is, is there any way of configuring the notification so that a group or user(s) recieve a warning before power is lost? At the moment the notification box is checked, but no-one is getting any. The servers are patched and working fine otherwise.
Any help would be appreciated!

why dont u use the powerchute prog that came with APC
