UPS not communicating

HI
I have a tripplite UPS, SU1500RTX, i want to control its behavior using PowerAlert software provided by Tripplite, my surprise it's when i connect it via USB or Comm port, it can be detected by the machine, can anyone give any guidance about this, maybe updateing firmware i could solve it?
