I am trying to upload a cube to the company webserver. The site administrator is insisting that they need the .pyi or .mdl files to schedule uploads to the cognos upfront site. I am reluctant to provide these files due to network performance issues.

I am hoping just to provide the completed cube .mdc file and somehow get this uploaded to the server. Does anyone know of a way to do this either by cognos scheduled macro or independently scheduled FTP script (or anything?).

Thanks in advance for anything anyone can think of.

You only need to publish the MDC files to Upfront. The PYI and MDL files are the model definition language of the MDC file in binary and ascii format respectively. You can write a simple ftp batch file and schedule the copy via the NT AT command. Or, if you have the UNIX version of PowerPlay you can write an ftp script and schedule the copy via a cron job.
