Hi All

We are suddenly having problems uploading large files to Livelink whether using the browser of Livelink explorer, someone said we had this issue previously (before my time) and that it was something on our firewall (Checkpoint) that was the problem. Now nothing has changed on our firewall so not sure why the problem would be cropping up again.

Below is the text from the upload error with LL Explorer

I'm fully connected to the server, I can upload small files no problem, when I use wireshark while transferring the large file it does begin but soon cuts out.

Anyone come accross this before? Any help appreciated!

if you can re-create this I would contact support as they will be the best resource. If it is an intermittent problem then I would put light logging on all livelink servers connected to this explorer and look at whether your installation is having thread starvation. In many places they configure extra livelink instances either vertical or horizontal to accomodate lapi traffic.
Is livelink using directory services,do you login in explorer with a named user/password or is it just seamless. In SSO you should bump up the livelink web server to 900 secs(the max allowed by IIS) and see if any improvement occurs.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The Livelink server is hosted by someone else, I have a call in with them but have not heard back yet.

However I was able to upload the large file to the Livelink site over a different connection (USB 3G Modem) Then again I was able to upload the large file to a different web file manager service over our main internet connection so the problem seems to be a combination of Livelink and our connection or hardware.

Thanks
Gerry

Found the problem, a SmartDefense rule that had been enabled on the Checkpoint firewall recently was causing the problem.

The rule was to block Skype, it does so by inspecting http traffic (among other traffic) and this was interfering with the larger file transfers on Livelink for some reason.

Back to the drawing board for Skype blocking!
