This is more of a Unix question then PCL but is there a command to upload a font to a HP printer using unix at the command line? Or is there a way to do it in PCL?

We have custom signature fonts we need to upload each time certain documents are printed. We have a way to do it using Windows but we must get it to work for unix too.

Also is there any special format the font file must be in?

What format are the signature fonts in now?

Ultimately, they have to be in PCL format. Once that is done, you wrap the font with some PCL code and send it to the printer. Usually a shell script in UNIX will be adequate.

It's a relatively painless process. Look at the soft font section in the tech ref manual.
