I am upsizing to SQL Server.

When I had an Access database I just used to FTP it into my webspace, but now my ISP is saying they need to create a database in the space and I connect to it using Enterprise Manager.

I'm confused - any light please?

I'm not sure what has confused you. I may be off in the comments that follow. If so, please ask a few detailed questions and perhaps I can answer them or point you to some answers.

As you upsize to SQL Server, you move from a client-based database engine to a server based engine. SQL Server runs as a service on the NT server. The databases are created on the server and the underlying files exist on the server.

Enterprise Manager is one tool - the one that comes with SQL Server - that can be used to administer databases on SQL Server. The ISP will control the SQL Server service. They'll probably only allow you to administer your own databases which you will do through a client tool like Enterprise Manager.

Hope this helps. If not, let me know what additional questions you have. Terry
