I am sure this has been asked before but here goes.

We are upgrating our version of Access from 97 to XP which means I have to convert all the databases over.
This includes all the data, queries, forms, reports, macros and modules.

Can anyone give me some advice on what to do and what not to do?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I'm in the middle of the same process and have found it to be NOT entirely problem free!

My main problem has been with VBA code. Many of my applications were started in Access 2.0, upgraded to A97. The most time consuming activity was correcting the useage of the Bang (!) - Dot (.) separators. Access 2.0 didn't much care which one you used and Access 97 had the DAO 2.5/3.5 compatability Library which, if referenced, allowed the same useage.
Well, A2k2 does very much care which syntax you use (and it doesn't correct it for you! If you created your apps directly in A97 and didn't have a reference set to the aforementioned compatability library, then you may not have this problem.
Another problem is with References. A2K2 seems to pick the correct ones most of the time but if you experience any strange compile errors, check the list of references. Sometimes it takes a manual change of references to get things straightened out.
The other main problem I had was with an Access 2.0 db which had Access Security implemented. Of course, the Owner and Admins users were long gone! (one reason why I avoid security whenever posible). Had to use some brute-force techniques to get that one converted.

LOL in your conversion.

Hi Andrew,

I have had some experience with this. Check out this thread:

thread181-487806

Even though it's about upgrading 2000 to XP it still applies to you. If you have any other questions, please post and I'll try and help you out. Good luck,
