Hi,

My current Windows 2000 Active Directory setup is:

The head office with the domain ‘abc.local’ and a remote office that is a child domain ‘child.abc.local’. There are 2 exchange 2000 servers, the one in head office receives all emails and routes emails destined for the remote office users to the other exchange 2000 server located there.

I wish to upgrade, firstly the head office domain to AD 2003 and then migrate from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003.

The remote office is located in the US (I’m in the UK) and so will be upgraded at a later date.

My question is can I upgrade the parent domain to AD 2003 and Exchange to 2003 without it impacting the current ‘relationship’ I have with child domain? What problems might occur?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

I have gone through that knowledge base article, unfortunately it doesn't really mention anything about child domains
