While upgrading virus protection software for a friend, I came upon the following error messages: "Unable to locate autoexec.dos and config.dos". What exactly do these files do? Can the computer operate ok without these files or are these crucial to the operation of the computer? I assume they are not crucial as her computer seems perfectly fine. She later told me that while on the line with tech support months ago, they had walked her through getting rid of an existing virus and had her change and delete certain things. Its possible this is when these were deleted if at all, or maybe these files were missing already? I'm thinking these are part of the Windows DOS shell. Is there a problem? If so what can be done? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
ITM
