So first UC Module to come my way, read the doc, said to myself not too difficult should be breeze.... WRONG !

Ok downloaded USB Module initiator (22 march) c110 iso file (22march also) successfully initiated a usb key, copied the iso into the c110iso dir, plugged the usb key top slot on uc module press top button to turn off, stayed pressed on top button till both orange lights gone to boot the UC from usb... boots from uc and not from usb...

Bought another usb key and hdmi cable redid the whole thing with a monitor and still the same thing !!!

Got into the uc bios tried to put the usb as my first boot device and it still boot on the UC Drive !!!

Any ideas i am about to thow it out the window ???!!!

Thanks !

I went through 3 USB drives before I found one that worked
You can do a manual upgrade if you like, there are some threads here on TT that describe the procedure, basically you use WinSCP and connect to the UCM module and then copy the files over and log into the webadmin and say upgrade. That is actually easier than flashing it but it takes the same amount of time (about 45 minutes)

I know that this is a frustrating piece of shtuff and the troubleshooting is also very nasty because it either works or not and the messages do not always help a lot.

Can i go from 8.0.x to 8.1.x using the manual method ?

Be careful on the upgrades though... I recently tried going from the previous 8.1 release to the one that came out with 8.1 67, and cant get past one of the packages. On a hard boot (unplanned power outage) the UC did not come up at all and we're heading out to re-image it. Customer is only using it for one-X, and it hasn't officially been deployed, but frustrating none the less.

Upgrading through webcontrol with winscp transfer right now, i gave up on the reimaging with the usb key... hit update all on the interface, still says updating we ll see what happens.

This will take a long time :)
I have a Lexar 4Gb usb stick which works fine.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I finished the upgrades manually, should i install the rpms packages that were not present on the 8.0.8 version (Avayaversionning, pexpect, probably dont need vmproclient and vmpromapi) ? :)

Thanks tl peter i ll look for that model and size (Fat32 or NTFS?) for the next UC that comes my way !

You should install all rpm's in the updates field.
It is formatted as fat32.

Last question should i delete all the 8.0 rpms in the var/cache/avaya/apps dir with WinSCP ?

you can do that from the webinterface after you upgraded by clicking clear local cache

The button doesn't show under updates, service group... Can i delete all the files manually from that directory or just the 8.0.x even ?

You can but why?

maybe it is me as I am actually on the apps server, just thought it would be the same. Linux on both and so forth should have both the same stuff. That would make sense, LOL

We have it too on our server edition.
The UCM is not running now and i am too lazy to boot it to check.

deleted language files manually, the rest seems to be working fine... Now if only the client's location wouldn't look like Beirut we could actually have made this cut by the due date ie friday.... One day everything will go according to plan, one day...
