Upgrading to XI R2

Test server is Win2000 using SQL (MSDN).

I installed XI R1 on the test server and it operates just fine. When I run the R2 install, it halts with a message stating, "Only Default, Single-box installations are upgradable". This is just one single box running all the servers and services.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,
Unless ALL the possible BOE XI options are installed that are set using the Default install options ( not Custom) ,it seems that R2 will not upgrade R1...Even if it would, a clean install is always better..

Thanks for the reply, Turkbear. I was hoping I could upgrade our production server the easiest way possible. It has been in production for just 6 - 8 months so it's still a fairly clean system.

Thanks again!

Hi,
I understand your frustration, but R2 does have some major changes ( including new directory names..) and you will probably want the clean install.

The BOE XI R2 installer is not their best work ( to say the least) and asking it to do anything non-standard is problematic.
