Moving from Btrieve environment to Microsoft SQL. Going from Progession 7.6.4. We have Accounting and Distribution (except for Currency Manager, Assets & Depreciation, Payroll, Bardode and EDI). Also adding Designer. Business partner is coming in to do the install.

What words of wisdom can you share? My understanding is that it will be pretty transparent for users.

Thanks!

Searches are different, but better. Many times i would test a conversion before the final go live conversion. The best part of this is it gives you an estimate of how long it will take. When I first started some times it could take the first computer 1 day to finish. Well I guess cpu's have gotten quicker. I said the first, because you can use multiple desktops when you get to the data portion, and the program ques up your btrieve files to convert from the file with the most records to the least. If you business partner is doing this they have probably run it many many times.

Same or new Hardware ? Any crystal or other external reporting will have to be adjusted.

Yeah, Crystal will have to be converted, this takes a few minutes per report. What version of SQL are you using? FGo with 2008 R2 if you can. Very solid platform.

Thanks for encouragement! We added a new server Dell T710, 10gb of memory, Microsoft Server 2008 R2. PC's are all the same 2.0ghz and up, 1gb memory running Windows XP Pro.
