Howdy,

When you upgrade a volume to a dynamic disk in Windows 2000 Server that has the boot partition on it, you get a warning: "Once you upgrade these disks to dynamic, you will not be able to boot previous versions of Windows from any volumes on this disk." This message scares me. Does this mean Window NT 4.0 would not boot, or will this wipe out my current boot parition (Windows 2000 fresh install with all files copied from a another server) and all my files will be lost?

(be kind, I am a Unix guy!)

Thanks

It means that you can't boot from Win NT, Win 98, Win 95, DOS etc. Your existing Win 2000 OS should be fine. Of course, you should make sure you have a backup before making any changes. I have done this on 15 servers and not had any problems.

Good Luck!

Dan
