I am working on a client's iBook which runs OS9 and wondered if there was any special I should do before downloading and installing 9.04. Thanks

Check Apples Web site, they tell you which bits your need to keep or change.

no not realy just download and install it helps in a lot of ways is there a reason you are not going to 9.1 instead So long and thanks for all the fish.

No reason. Just ignorance! Just tried to download but with a dial-up connection it's going to take hours. Appleworks upgrade also I was trying to get. Are these available on CD?

Cd's are avaliable but you will have to pay for them. The up-grade from 9 to 9.04 is free, how ever the upgarde to 9.1 will cost you. You might as well, if you want to upgarde to 9.1, buy OS-X and you get 9.1 on the CD.

Well I thought I did everything right - turned off file sharing, etc - and 9.1 is working fine but certain things are now missing! Some are essential items like Remote Access. Can you help please?

You should be able to go back and select these things to be installed from the CD. Select 'Custom Install' . With out having to install the whole system again. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.
