Upgrading Tips 1

Hi All!!

I'm am getting ready to upgrade to NAV 8.0 from 7.6 and was wondering if there were any good docs or if anyone had any helpful tips to accomplish this as painless as possible. I've been kind of thrown into this upgrade and know very little at this point about NAV. Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

I'm also upgrading from 7.6 to 8.0 and am wondering the main difference between the two? What more will I get with NAV 8.0.

Thanks polymath5! Another Q. When you upgrade your primary server, do all of your secondary servers become aware that the primary had been upgraded or are there additional steps?

Any time I've upgraded NAV I unistalled from secondary servers and did a clean install on them.

The whole server update process isn't that long. Just follow the steps in the Walkthrough document (kind of rehearse it in your mind) and then go to it.

I've always done it on weekends, so there were a no, or few users in the system. Once the servers where done I used the SSC to push out to clients, installing over the older versions on the workstations. (all W2k or NT)
