Hi All

Before I upgrade 2.6 to 8 on Ultra Enterprise 2. I have one question.

I am aware we need to boot the system via boot cdrom, however we have a dumb terminal on the back of server in serial port (character based).

Will this work ok, or do we need vga for the gui????

Sorry for question, but i have never upgrader b4.

Thanks in Advance Sy!

The terminal will work fine. The installer will detect it and go in text mode.
I recommend you do not do an upgrade, but a new install of solaris 8 (enabling 64 bits) and then restore your data. It may seem like it will take longer, but it does not. The upgrade process is very slow. Too bad I.T. is not cash business

I agree with the fresh install approach! I've done 8 Solaris8 install/upgrades and the fresh install is cleaner and up and running quicker!

Good luck! Solaris 8 is great!

If you boot straight from the second CD instead of using the first "webstart" CD you will go straight into the text or console mode installation (which I would always recommend anyway). Annihilannic.
