In general I would recommend that you do not upgrade the software. If the data on the server is critical, take a full backup. Then completely reinstall the new operating system from scratch. I fully appreciate that this will take time, but the resultant system will be free from any legacy problems inherant in the original software.
Chris,
The direction we are going is an Upgrade, not clean install. I would personally go for clean install. Can you tell me what should I take to considiration for an Upgrade. They made such decission only because it will be less time consuming(they think).
Thanks
I have just completed an upgrade on a W2K server and I encountered the following "problems" - Compaq Teaming Software, Compaq Management agents not recognised by 2003. However on a "clean" instal these were all OK. If you go for an upgrade you will need to go to the Compaq web site for the new software. Apart from that I had no problems doing the upgrade.
