i got a bio error when i tried to update my ram

More Information needed.
What type of RAM?, How much?, What error? What type of motherboard and BIOS?

Get a new stick of Ram the one you have is probably bad or you put it in the wrong slot make sure its in slot one and you are not trying to use pc 100 on a pc 133 board or pc 133 on a pc 100 board although it is somtimes backwards compatialbe

P.S Slot one is the closest to your processer

lizzard394,

DIMM slot 1 is not necessarily the closest to the processor.
On Asus A7V133 motherboard DIMM slot 1 is the farthest away from the processor.
Also, PC-133 SDRAM is usually backward compatible with PC-100 SDRAM.
PC-100 SDRAM will not work with a 133MHz Front Side Bus unless the BIOS allows you to set the DRAM frequency independently.

england,

Check your motherboard manual to be sure you have the memory configured properly.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

John
