Hi all, hopefully you can help as I'm now banging my head off the wall, well not quite but I'm sure you know what I mean...

I've followed all the instructions, downloaded 5.5 gig of data and still can't upgrade.

I've tried installing it direct from the suse.com site from within Yast2 and got messages saying that the device couldn't be mounted?

ftp.suse.com

/pub/suse/i386/8.1

The correct source mediaum could not be mounted.

Details.

Could not mount the source medium. mount: RPC: Port mapper failiure - RPC: Unable to receive

After a couple of days downloading all the files I tried specifying the hard disk but got the same message?

Basically Yast2 wasn't connecting to anything

So I created my boot disk and 3 module disks and tried doing it from boot.

Tried loading network drivers, didn't have mine in the list and couldn't connect via FTP. Had the option to do it from NFS or samba but couldn't use either of these.

When I tried going through the hard drive option I saw this:

hda2 : reiserfs

But couldn't use this as the installation source and couldn't see anywhere to specify /suse which is where all the installation files are...

I can download updates/patches ok using Yast2 and have downloaded the latest, but this isn't upgrading my system.

Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance Tezdread
