Hello, how can I upgrade the Partner VS mail Rel 1 to Rel 5 ? Can it be done by installing the rel 5 backup and restore PCMCIA card? If not how would you go about upgrading the voicemail? Thanks TJ

That is a hardware upgrade, not a software or license upgrade. In some circles it's known as a "forklift upgrade" because you have to replace the old, not alter the old.

VS R1s go for ~$250 on eBay, half the price of an R5. The best way is to sell the old to finance the new.

There is NO way to upgrade a VS R1.0 to VS R5.0. The VS R5.0 utilizes a completely different circuit board/component design platform.

Hi 89549,
Why not go all the way to the R6? You can then backup the voicemail to a hard drive / CD / or Zip.

Thanks everyone for all the help. TJ

If you go to the Partner Messaging R1 you will be able to add the spell by name directory that is missing in the VS R5 - only major feature missing is ability to save messages as new (included in Partner Messaging R6)
