Upgrading Outlook Express for OS 8.6

In the PC world I know if I upgrade versions of outlook express from 5.x to 6.0 OE is smart enough to go and pull all my email in from the previous version. Not being very familar with MAC I need a safety net. Will the same apply to the MAC?

If not how do I back up my email before I do this?

Yes when I upgraded to 5.06 from 5.02 my mail was retained

Any version of outlook or entourage can import past versions. Typically the files will be located in documents/microsoft user data/main identity if it asks where they are.
