Hi, we want to upgrade from nw_7_3_2_jumbo.Build.11 to nw_7_3_2_jumbo.Update1. I have read from the installation guide that you have to unnistall previous version in order to install the new version. My question is, what happens with the Library defined configuration?? After upgrading, we must reconfigure the library (via jbconfig) and do the inventory again?? Or there is some method to bypass this??

thanks

Hi,

when you are uninstalling you will either get a question if you want to keep the meta data, or it is automatically a partial uninstall. Depends on version you are running. It will leave the important directories, res, index and mm intact so when installing all config will be kept intact. That way jukebox, clients and all config is still there, and also all client and media indexes.

Before doing an upgrade you should run a bootstrap backup and also manually copy mentioned directories to be extra safe. Copy the directories while NetWorker is down.

Windows upgrading (as opposed to uninstall and then install) does nothing to the configuration. It will automatically:

- stop networker
- uninstal the current version
- instal the new version
- start networker

Always make an online copy of the res folder before making any configuration changes. It's easier to copy back the folder than having to recover the bootstrap.

As always, make sure you do a bootstrap backup at level=full, so that support doesn't lecture you on not having a bootstrap before upgrading.
