Hi chaps,

I got my NT4 MCSE many years ago, and have decided to try for the 2003 MCSE. Ive read that I dont have to do the elective exam when upgrading from NT4

I have my MCP number but not my MCSE number, cant find the card anywhere. I think that my MCP number may be sufficient, I just booked exam 270 with prometric and there was a bit where it asked for my MCP number (didnt mention anything about an MCSE number) . Will microsoft know that once I have passed all the exam prior to an elective that I will be a qualified MCSE in 2003 and send the cert? I would hate to have to do the elective when I know that I shouldnt need to! Just wondered if anyone has any experience of this scenario. cheers.

There is no such thing as an MCSE number. All there is, is an MCP number.

Once you pass the needed exams you will have to go to the MCP web site and request your welcome kit.

If you go to the MCP web site ( you can use the Certification Planner to see the various paths to take to upgrade and what your best path is.
