I know I'm jumping the gun here as I have only just started studying for my first MCP, but.........

I am aiming for a MCSA 2000 by the middle of next year.

How do I upgrade this to an MCSE 2000?

Is there an upgrade exam, or a whole new process and series of exams.

You pass another 3 MCP exams. Exact ones depend on your MCSA path.

Thank you jrbarnett.

I dont want to pester you more, as I'm sure I can find it at Microsoft but if I were to take 210, 215, 218, and the MCDST to attain MCSA status, what extra would I need for the MCSE upgrade?

According to

You would need 216, 217 plus one of the design exams (219, 220, 221, 226, 297 or 298).
Additionally, the MCDST is not valid as an MCSE elective, so you would need to pass one of the supported electives for the MCSE. I'd suggest going for Exchange, ISA Server or SQL Server now instead of the MCDST (depending upon your job responsibilities and expertise) to save having to study for and pass another exam later.

I want the MCDST as I will be supporting 50 or users on XP next year when we replace 2000 with XP. I was fearing you would mention the 216. I have read how hard it is!

I am trying to get as many qualifications as I can so I guess MCSA 2000/2003, MCSA 2000/2003, MCDST, and any additional training on Lotus Domino/Notes would be great.

I just need to find the money now and the time!!

Thanks again.

In your case, I'd do the 70-270 XP exam instead of 210 (as 2000 Pro and XP Pro are 99.9% identical anyway), forget the MCDST and do one of the electives that is valid for both MCSA and MCSE.
If you currently use 2000, by all means do the 2000 MCSA, but it will have a shorter shelf life than the 2003 whilst still having a lot that's highly relevant to your work.

Such as the CompTIA Security+. It's more expensive than a MS elective, but far easier and fulfills the elective requirement for both MCSA & MCSE.

A+, Network+, Security+, MCSA: Security 2003

If you want to get the MCSE, there's absolutely no way around 216. I wouldn't completely agree that Security+ is easier than all the MS electives.

CISSP, MCT, MCSE2K/2K3, MCSA, CEH, Security+, Network+, CTT+, A+

Yeah I'd really aim at 2003 rather than 2000, there's not a whole lot of difference. I did my 2003 MCSE with only 2000/NT experience previously.

The thing is I have finished 2 courses on 210 and 215 and now await the exams so I really weant to complete them as I had to pay out of opcket for them. But I see what your saying about 2003.
